Biden Said It Will Build A Network Of 500,000 Charging Stations Across The U.S.

US President Biden stated on November 6 that after the House of Representatives passes the Infrastructure Investment and Employment Act, the United States will begin to build a network of charging stations (more than 500,000) across the country. Biden pointed out that auto companies have promised that by 2030, 50% of their vehicles will be electric vehicles (EV). He said that just like stopping at a gas station for refueling, there will be charging stations available from the East Bank to the West Bank in the future. Biden emphasized that after the passage of the bill, the United States will no longer stay out of the way in terms of manufacturing (from solar panels, wind turbines, battery energy storage, EV energy and electricity). The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday (November 7) that the US$1 trillion infrastructure bill passed by the US Congress on November 5th, of which about US$5 billion will be used to expand the highway EV charging network. Nick Nigro, the founder of Atlas Public Policy, said that compared to the status quo in the United States, these are very large numbers and will have a transformative impact on EVs. He pointed out that over the past few years, US government agencies, utility companies, and state governments have committed no more than 5 billion U.S. dollars in EV charging facilities.
