The First Case Of Death Due To The Omicron Mutant In The UK

The Omicron variant of the new crown pneumonia attacked the United Kingdom, where the first death was reported. Officials warned that Omicron is spreading at an "astounding" rate, and it is estimated that it will become the mainstream virus strain in London in two days. BBC News, Al Jazeera, etc. reported that on Monday (13th) Ying Xiang Johnson stated that at least one patient was confirmed to be infected with Omicron and died. He emphasized: "I think (Omicron) is a virus with mild symptoms. I think we should let go of this idea and realize that the virus is spreading rapidly among the population at full speed." On Sunday (12th) Johnson called on the public to give the third dose of vaccine to avoid paralysis of the medical system. He warned that there will be a "tsunami" wave of infections, and even those who have completed two doses of vaccinations will not be spared. Studies have shown that only two doses of the vaccine are not effective against Omicron, and a third dose is needed to increase the protection to more than 70%. British Health Secretary Sajid Javid said in an interview with Sky News: "(Omicron) is spreading at an alarming rate. The situation has never been seen before. The number of infections doubles every two or three days." Among those infected in London, 44% are infected with Omicron. It is predicted that Omicron will replace Delta as the new mainstream virus strain in London in the next 48 hours.
