Global PC Sales In 2021 Hit Record High Since 2012

The personal computer (PC) industry has experienced a wave of growth, driven by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has driven work from home and distance learning. Although the shortage of chips has hindered the supply of PCs, according to the latest survey, global PC sales in the fourth quarter of 2021 remained strong and maintained a positive growth trend. "Barron's" and other foreign media reported that the market research company IDC released the latest report that the global PC market continued to expand in the fourth quarter of 2021, with shipments increasing by 1% compared with the same period in 2020, reaching 92.7 million units, showing an increase for the seventh consecutive quarter. The annual shipment reached 348.8 million units, an increase of 14.8% over 2020 and a new high since 2012. IDC pointed out that in some advanced country markets, demand for consumer and educational PCs is beginning to cool down. IDC also said that if it weren't for the shortage of parts supply, the PC market would be even bigger in 2021, but IDC expects that there will still be a shortage of parts supply in the first half of 2022.
