Powell says he will raise interest rates more aggressively at IMF discussion

US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said at a seminar hosted by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that a half-percentage-point rate hike will be discussed in the interest rate meeting next month, and under the important factor of controlling high inflation, it is appropriate to raise interest rates more aggressively. However, Powell said the bureau's goal is to reduce inflation without a recession, and is working to bring inflation back to 2 percent. Powell said he would raise interest rates more aggressively, and the hawkish remarks were within market expectations, driving the dollar back to the 100 level.
