U.S. inflation expected to top 8% in March

Annual U.S. inflation, as measured by the consumer price index, hit a 40-year high of 7.9 percent in February. However, in view of the fact that overall commodity prices have risen sharply after the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine situation on February 24, the market generally expects that the US inflation rate in March will only be higher. All this will be revealed when the US releases March inflation figures on Wednesday. The market now estimates that annual inflation in the United States will break 8% in March and climb to the level of 8.3%. If true, it is expected to further strengthen the market's expectations for the Fed to raise interest rates and shrink its balance sheet on May 5.
